'The Vexed Vicar' warns Church of England has abandoned its historic support for Israel. All Israel News

Reverend Chris Wickland, known to many online as The Vexed Vicar, believes the Church of England is drifting away from its historic support for Israel, embracing theological and political positions that he argues have fueled hostility toward the Jewish state and weakened the Church's moral witness.

In a wide-ranging interview with Christian journalist Paul Calvert, he discusses replacement theology, Christian Zionism, rising antisemitism in Britain, the Church of England's adoption of the Kairos II document and why he believes Israel remains central to God's prophetic plan.

Looking at the Church's response since the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attacks, Wickland argues that many church leaders failed to acknowledge Israel's suffering while promoting what he describes as a one-sided narrative.

"When October the 7th happened here in the UK, the silence that came from the church was deafening. They just wouldn't speak up, wouldn't talk about it," he says. He believes that silence damaged the Church's moral witness at a time when clear leadership was needed.

A recurring theme throughout the interview is the influence of replacement theology. Wickland contends that many churches no longer recognize God's continuing covenant with Israel, despite what he sees as the clear teaching of Scripture.

Pointing to Romans and the biblical covenants, he states, "You read Romans chapters nine, ten, 11. It's so clear that God has a place for Israel... Israel becomes the very central pivot stone, if you like, around which everything revolves. And if you don't get Israel, you don't get anything."

The conversation also explores why the term "Christian Zionist" has become controversial in Britain. Rather than distancing himself from the label, Wickland embraces it, saying, "Christian Zionism is a dirty word here in the UK, but we just wear it as a badge of honor because it's true.

We believe biblically that the Jews have a right to determine their own state and their own homeland, which is in the land of Israel." He argues that supporting Israel's right to exist should not be treated differently from supporting any other nation's right to self-determination.

Addressing the Church of England's broader direction, Wickland argues that biblical authority has increasingly been replaced by cultural and political pressures.

Summing up his criticism, he remarks, "The trouble is with the Church of England, they only believe what they read. Sorry. They only read what they believe. They don't believe what they read."

The interview concludes on a more personal note. While acknowledging growing fears within Britain's Jewish community, Wickland insists that many Christians continue to stand with Israel and the Jewish people.

In 20 years…

Worth the read! Shared from a friend…

The Muslim religion is the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially in the minority races.

Last month I attended a training. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who each explained their beliefs.

I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Muslim gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.

After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Muslim and asked:

'Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?'

There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, " Nonbelievers"

I responded, 'So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in heaven. Is that correct?'

The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.'

He sheepishly replied, 'Yes.'

I then stated, 'Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine The Pope commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Charles Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in heaven!'

The Muslim was speechless.

I continued, 'I also have a problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me! Let me ask you a question:

Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me in order for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and He wants you to be there with me?'

You could have heard a pin drop.

Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with my way of dealing with the Islamic Imam, and exposing the truth about the Muslims' beliefs.

In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the US. to elect the President.

I think everyone in the U.S. should be required to read this, but with the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on! This is your chance to make a difference.

Just Copy & paste.

@everyone, I just did.

Thank you Gena Gore for sending this out.

“Teach Them - Young Men and Women” by Steve Martin

Teach Them – Young Men and Women

As older men and women in the Faith, the Bible teaches that we are to teach those who come after us, to train them, entrusting to them that which the Lord has taught us.

Experience goes a long way. I would rather follow someone who has been on the rocky trail before me, rather than follow the one who has just read about how to walk on a trail in the mountains.

For me, give me someone who knows what to do, probably has fallen a few times and yet got back up,  then one still “learning the ropes”, so I won’t make the same mistakes myself and go the wrong way.

As Paul spoke to his young disciple Timothy, so do I want for those I am given to lead.

“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful people who will be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2: 1-2 NASB

Many times I have prayed to be a good example, to heed the words of Jesus (Yeshua) so I might be a good witness, and carry His Name in a worthy way.

I remember as a young boy I wanted to be a good example to my brothers and sisters. It is even so today, with two brothers and five sisters in our family.

As I continue to be a good example, others will see, and hopefully watch or listen, to walk in the same way as our Lord did, and does.

“Do as I do” is better done than, “Do as I say and not as I do.”

I enjoy encouraging young men in particular in the faith. With my own two sons, along with others that the Lord has given me to build up in the faith – Moses in Pakistan, Yeshudas in India, Duncan in Kenya, I enjoy being one to follow.

May the good Lord continue to guide my steps so I can be one with solid faith and good leadership.

And may you too be one who others look to for guidance and walk in faithful obedience to our our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Ahava and Shalom,

Steve Martin

Know Your DNA? - Steve Martin

Know Your DNA?

Many of us have wondered, at some point or another, “Who am I?” And so we order a DNA kit, swab the mouth and mail it in.

And so I did. For the third time. Different company of course.

I knew the general area from where my heritage line of ancestry came from, based on previous accounts from several sources. I wasn’t expecting the 30% Scottish part, nor the 11% Irish segment that this last one reported.

I guess I had always wondered why I liked the Texas Longhorns (I.e.. Scottish Highlander cattle) and St. Patrick so much. Now I know.

With the last name of Martin I had also heard a Jewish speaker at a Jerusalem Aliyah conference years ago say many Hispanics in Central and South America, with the last name of Martinez, most likely have Sephardic (Spanish descendants) Jewish DNA within. Millions of them do not know it.

No connection there though.

Being “grafted in” is what is most important for most of us.

Romans 11:11:17-18 says, “But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the [j]rich root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you.”

Because of the Jews, whom God the Father chose to hear and write the Bible to reveal Himself. and sent the Messiah Yeshua to the nations through them, we the goyim (Gentiles), now also have the promise of life with Him as we believe and receive His salvation.

DNA research can be helpful in revealing your ancestry.

The Bible, God’s Word, is best for determining your eternal ancestry.

Ahava and Shalom,

Steve Martin

Ride the Great Smoky Mountain Train with me, Steve Martin

July 28, 2026

Greetings to all.

My wonderful wife Laurie (*she said when I use the word “good” she thinks there’s also a “bad” one!) and I had a wonderful weekend in the Bryson City, North Carolina area over the last weekend of July 2026.

(*So being the good husband that I am…I listen and learn, even after almost 49 years of marriage!)

She had a ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Railway on her “bucket list.” Isn’t that saying from some movie of old men before dying? Just asking.

It was an enjoyable 4.5 hour journey through the Smoky Mountains. (They are called “smoky” due to the fog each morning covering them. Or so I think.)

Lakes, the main river, rafters, house boats…all could be seen as the 20+ rail cars followed the steam locomotive pulling us over the tracks.

Enjoy the videos! And a few of the 100 photos I probably took.

Shalom,

Steve Martin

P.S. I also enjoyed watching g the hummingbirds at our lodging location. The owner says there were 35 feeding the hour after I left my observation seat, when I watched 4-5. Wow! Such a delightful little bird, Lord! Thank You!

I love this song by Passion, “My Heart is Yours.” Watch the cardinals and hummingbirds as you listen.

“My Heart Cries” by Steve Martin

My Heart Cries

This past week, as we traveled on the interstate in North Carolina for a weekend in the western mountains, my knowledgeable wife, Laura Jean (I like her full name) told me of a recent poll saying 60% of American youth favor Hamas and the Palestinians (who voted for them) over our friends, the Israeli Jewish people.

I couldn’t believe it. My heart immediately felt the pain. How can this be?

Has deception gotten so bad that since the Oct. 7, 2023 slaughter of 1200 Jews and others at the Nova music festival and surrounding villages (kibbutz), by Hamas from Gaza, who slaughtered our friends, be their choice of support?

If this poll is true, collaborated by others, far too many of our young people here in the USA would actually support killers, rapists, murderers, and barbarians. They just do not know the truth.

Have these, who primarily get their news from supporting liars,  now stand with those who would just as well have killed them if they had been there?

I went to the Nova Festival location in southern Israel, just a few miles from the Gaza border, in October 2025. I have seen the memorials displaying the enlarged photos of these hundreds of innocent loved youth, gunned down where they stood.

No mercy. No place to run. No objective by the murderers but to kill and destroy anyone and everyone Jewish.

I need not tell you again how many times I have been to Israel; how many friendships I have established there over these past 30 years and those Laurie and I continue to stand with. They are great people. They love life, and peace.

My heart cries for my Jewish friends, and also the youth here and around the world who know not what these true, decent, honorable, family people are, but would instead support the murderers.

Israelis want to live safely, raise their families, and above all love their God (which, by the way, is the same as mine) and yet  anti-Semitism continues to grow as the lies and hatred spreads here in the USA and the nations.

Will it stop? Will the growing hatred of Jews and soon others (i.e. Christians) who stand for Israel, come to an end?

Very sad to say, based on Bible prophetic words written long ago, it will not. Not until the Messiah, Yeshua HaMashiach, comes back to save them and us who stand with them.

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many crowns; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.

He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.

From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.

And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written: “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:11-16, NASB

Yeshua the Messiah is coming back. To save His people and to also destroy the enemy.

Bo Yeshua. Come Jesus. Quickly.

Ahava and Shalom,

Steve Martin

A true friend of Israel and His people
