My Heart Cries

This past week, as we traveled on the interstate in North Carolina for a weekend in the western mountains, my knowledgeable wife, Laura Jean (I like her full name) told me of a recent poll saying 60% of American youth favor Hamas and the Palestinians (who voted for them) over our friends, the Israeli Jewish people.

I couldn’t believe it. My heart immediately felt the pain. How can this be?

Has deception gotten so bad that since the Oct. 7, 2023 slaughter of 1200 Jews and others at the Nova music festival and surrounding villages (kibbutz), by Hamas from Gaza, who slaughtered our friends, be their choice of support?

If this poll is true, collaborated by others, far too many of our young people here in the USA would actually support killers, rapists, murderers, and barbarians. They just do not know the truth.

Have these, who primarily get their news from supporting liars,  now stand with those who would just as well have killed them if they had been there?

I went to the Nova Festival location in southern Israel, just a few miles from the Gaza border, in October 2025. I have seen the memorials displaying the enlarged photos of these hundreds of innocent loved youth, gunned down where they stood.

No mercy. No place to run. No objective by the murderers but to kill and destroy anyone and everyone Jewish.

I need not tell you again how many times I have been to Israel; how many friendships I have established there over these past 30 years and those Laurie and I continue to stand with. They are great people. They love life, and peace.

My heart cries for my Jewish friends, and also the youth here and around the world who know not what these true, decent, honorable, family people are, but would instead support the murderers.

Israelis want to live safely, raise their families, and above all love their God (which, by the way, is the same as mine) and yet  anti-Semitism continues to grow as the lies and hatred spreads here in the USA and the nations.

Will it stop? Will the growing hatred of Jews and soon others (i.e. Christians) who stand for Israel, come to an end?

Very sad to say, based on Bible prophetic words written long ago, it will not. Not until the Messiah, Yeshua HaMashiach, comes back to save them and us who stand with them.

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many crowns; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.

He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.

From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.

And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written: “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:11-16, NASB

Yeshua the Messiah is coming back. To save His people and to also destroy the enemy.

Bo Yeshua. Come Jesus. Quickly.

“Leadership Through Love” by Steve Martin

Leadership Through Love

Having been an administrator for decades, having to hire and fire staff, has given me a few insights into people and who they are.

Once I hired a young man some months before his wedding date, and then had to fire him due to lack of incentive and commitment to the job. Tough for him. And me. (John was still a very good softball player. He could hit it a mile.)

Looking for the right skills and character in a candidate for the position has its challenges. Can they do the job? Do they respect authority? Do they want to learn or will they already “know it all?” (i.e They have a college degree. I did my one semester only. True.)

You do all the right, somewhat proven and taught methods of selecting the right one, man or woman. But then I found the way that worked the best for me.

Hold on. I will tell you. For both my secular and ministry leadership positions.

I prayed. Yes, I  asked the Holy Spirit Who He knew was the one to fit. Sure, I got it wrong once (maybe twice) as above, but I can honestly say that the ones He showed me worked. And fit. And did the job.

I loved my staff. I appreciated them. I honored them. They knew they were really part of the team, and not someone I “used” to further my achievements or my goals. They were just as important as I was. And they knew it.

Relationships have to start with a love for the people, for the ones the Lord has you walk with, serve with, and accomplish His goals together.

It is not about “my ministry, my accomplishments, my spotlight” opportunities.

It is about Him and His people. Love them. Serve them. Achieve together with them.

This also applies to the many volunteers who serve faithfully,  often “beyond the call of duty”, with churches, ministries, and many other organizations.

For His glory and honor. Yeah Lord!

“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace,17 comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.” 2 Thess.. 2:16-17 NASB

“It Is A Dilemma” by Steve Martin

Think I Got It

It is a dilemma. Maybe for you too?

For years I have been wanting to have a disciplined, connected life with the Lord, God the Father (Abba as some call Him), Jesus (Yeshua) and the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh).

Reading my Bible daily, a chapter from the “Old” and “New” testaments, maybe a Psalm, add on one or two devotionals…and pray in tongues for those He gives me. And…listen to my worship song playlist.

The best time for me, for all of this, is before the sun comes up. Quiet. Slow. No distractions.

Often I connect with them, the Three. Sometimes I struggle and think, “Is this just too much routine? Is it really worth it and lasting? Do they really hear me and my heart?”

But most important, do I connect with their heart? Their prayers? Their vision?

Of course I have read many biographies of saints gone by…both in the Bible and those whom followed in their footsteps over the centuries. Even the ones in our day. All the while wanting to be sure I am connecting with the Lord.

I think I got it. After about, say, 50-60 years.

Our Father wants us to spend time with Him. Forgot the news for awhile. Let the emails, texts and all messages stay as they are, waiting on the phone.

Give Him time. Just give them time.

And when you do…the discipline, connection, refreshment, fulfillment will come.

I think I got it. And them too.

Ahava and shalom,

Steve Martin

“Be Not Unaware, Nor Discouraged” by Steve Martin

Be Not Unaware, Nor Discouraged

Have you ever gotten an email, phone call, text and asked, “Where did that come from?” Out of the blue you receive something that throws you, and you wonder, “What did I do to deserve that?”

It is not uncommon these days to get reactions, opinions, even hatred thrust your way, as if it is the “assigned duty” of the one sending it to do so.

Well, with some of those messages sent it is their job, when you consider the ultimate source.

“Be  of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”1 Peter 5:8, NASB

However these attacks come, they are meant to wear down the believers, stop them in their tracks, keep them from pursuing and fulfilling their calling.

But they cannot. They must not.

It used to be that it would take me days to get over a hurtful word, spoken or written. It would simmer in my head, my heart, and I would battle to rid myself of it.

Over the years that time period has dropped down to about an hour or so.

After repenting of any action on my part, seriously considering if I was at fault, I move on in the grace and love of the Holy Spirit, recognizing the attack for what it was.

We certainly are not perfect. Sometimes these actions against us were from our own initial instigation. See it as another teaching moment to watch our mouth and our words that we give out.

We must not be unaware that attacks will come.

Even as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, wrestled, battled, fought them off through prayer and daily walking with the Father, we too, as His children, are not left alone.

Even as in the natural Israel is lambasted every day it seems, as the Scriptures tell us, so be it is in  the spiritual.

“46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47 The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second Man is from heaven.

48 As is the earthy one, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly One, so also are those who are heavenly.

49 Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly.” 1 Corinthians 15:46-49 NASB

The devil hates us. His legions war against us.

But we will stand and accomplish that which we are given to do. Our Lord’s promise to to us.

As an extra note, I have found listening to worship music gets my heart and head, and spirit, back to good order!

Ahava and Shalom,

Steve Martin

But as it was in the Days of Noah, so shall it be at the return of the Son of man. The Bearded Bible Brothers go on a globe-trotting journey to uncover the mystery behind the Nephilim, the origin of all false religions, and Satan’s plot to use the Beast as His genetic seed to deceive the nations.
